Frequently asked questions
Clear answers before you plan your request.
Is JapanMeet a taxi or transport service?
No. JapanMeet provides personal accompaniment and practical travel assistance. Any train, taxi, bus, or other third-party fare is separate unless your final quote explicitly says otherwise.
Where is the service available?
The initial service area is Tokyo, prioritizing Tokyo, Shinagawa, and Shinjuku stations. You can ask about another Tokyo location in the request form.
Does submitting the form confirm my booking?
No. The owner manually checks availability, route details, and price. Your booking is confirmed only after you receive and accept a final quote and JapanMeet confirms it directly.
Can you carry my luggage?
Luggage carrying is not promised as part of the service. Tell us how many pieces you have so the route and meeting plan can be assessed realistically.
Can you guarantee I will make my train?
No. JapanMeet will help you navigate, but cannot guarantee a connection or boarding. Leave generous time and share accurate train details.
Do you provide accessibility assistance?
JapanMeet is not a specialist accessibility provider. Please describe mobility or access needs in your request so we can honestly assess whether the service is suitable.
Which languages are supported?
During the initial launch, Naoki provides assistance in English, Spanish, and Japanese. The confirmed assistance language will be stated before the service.
Will Naoki be my assistant?
Naoki provides the initial services personally. As JapanMeet grows, another assistant may be assigned; your booking confirmation will identify your assistant before the service.
How much does assistance cost?
Hotel-to-station and station-to-hotel assistance start at ¥15,000 with up to 120 minutes included. Station meet and connection assistance starts at ¥9,000 with up to 60 minutes included. Custom assistance is quoted individually. Additional assistance is ¥3,000 per 30 minutes only when available and mutually agreed.
What does the standard ¥15,000 service include?
It covers one agreed escorted journey with up to 120 minutes included from the confirmed meeting time. Eligibility for the standard price is confirmed during quotation; no geographic boundary is implied before that review. The service clock does not restart if a guest is late.
What happens if I am late?
There is a 15-minute grace period without an additional waiting fee, but the included service period still starts at the confirmed meeting time. Contact JapanMeet as soon as possible. If you cannot be contacted within 30 minutes, the booking may be treated as a no-show. Advance-notified delays are accommodated where practical and subject to availability.
What is the cancellation policy?
Deadlines are calculated from the confirmed service start time in Japan Standard Time. At least 48 hours before: no fee and a full refund. From 24 to less than 48 hours: 50% fee. Less than 24 hours or a no-show: 100% fee. A cancellation is effective when received through the designated communication channel. Date changes are subject to availability.
Who pays transportation expenses?
You pay your own transportation fares and the assistant’s fares while they accompany you. Ordinary assistant travel to the meeting point and returning after the service is included when the assignment qualifies for standard coverage. Customer-requested taxis are charged separately. Coverage eligibility, exceptional travel distances, special arrangements, and every other additional expense are disclosed, quoted, and agreed before they are incurred.
